Here to change the world of energy

MS Renewables is a Southampton-based specialist in heat pump and solar panel installations, serving Winchester, Southampton and the wider Hampshire area. Established in 2000 as a family-run business, our team combines the skills of electricians, plumbers and builders to deliver fully coordinated, compliant installations with excellent customer service.

Solar PV is a core focus for MS Renewables — we design and install high-quality systems that reduce energy bills, increase self-consumption and (where eligible) allow export of surplus generation to the National Grid. Choosing solar also helps create a cleaner, more sustainable environment for future generations.

Alongside PV we supply and fit heat pumps (air-source and ground-source), provide heat pump servicing and repairs, install EV charging points and offer solar thermal solutions. We work for homeowners and local businesses, including EV fleet charging projects, and provide ongoing maintenance and rapid fault diagnosis when needed.

Our Key Services

  • Solar Panel Installation (PV)
  • Solar Panel Repairs
  • Solar Panel Maintenance
  • Thermal Solar Panels
  • EV Car Charging Points
  • Heat Pump Installation
  • Heat Pump Servicing
  • Heat Pump Repairs

Heat pumps deliver efficient heating and cooling (typically producing multiple kilowatts of heat from each kilowatt of electrical input). Photovoltaic (PV) and thermal solar systems complement one another — PV generates electricity while thermal systems provide hot water — and MS Renewables has the experience to supply, install, maintain and repair both to current industry standards.

Our mission

Our mission is to provide reliable, safe and affordable renewable energy solutions that reduce bills and lower carbon emissions for homeowners and small businesses. We combine accredited electrical expertise with careful design, high-quality equipment and clear communication so that every project is delivered to current standards with minimal disruption.

Our vision

We envision a resilient local community powered by clean, low‑carbon technologies. MS Renewables aims to be the trusted, neighbourhood partner that makes heat pumps, solar PV and EV charging accessible — delivering long-term value through excellent workmanship, safety and aftercare.

Highly Accredited

Working in a highly regulated industry, it is important for us to hold accreditations and memberships that reflect the standards we work to and compliance with regulations.

NICEIC registration

It provides a certification scheme that helps consumers identify trustworthy and qualified professionals for electrical work.

MCS registration

MCS-certified installers often offer warranties on their installations, and they can also provide the necessary certification for insurance purposes.

Residential Solar Panel FAQs

Still Have a Question

Have questions about solar, heat pumps or EV charging? Our team is happy to help — request a free, no-obligation consultation below.

  • Do solar panels work during cloudy days or at night?
Solar panels continue to produce electricity on cloudy days (albeit at reduced output), but they do not generate power at night. To maximise usable energy and reduce grid reliance we commonly pair PV systems with battery storage. Batteries store surplus daytime generation for use after dark or during periods of low sunlight, improving self-consumption and resilience.
  • What is the lifespan of residential solar panels?
Modern solar panels are highly reliable and typically come with performance warranties of 25 years or more. Panel output degrades slowly over time (commonly around 0.5%–0.8% per year). With correctly installed equipment and routine maintenance you can expect decades of service from a well-specified system.
  • Can I power my entire home with solar panels?
It depends on your household electricity demand, the size of the PV array and whether you include battery storage. Many homes can offset a large portion of daytime usage; powering the entire house 24/7 typically requires generous roof area and a suitably sized battery. We recommend a site survey and energy review so we can provide a realistic, costed plan for whole-home coverage where feasible.
  • How long does it take to install solar panels?
Typical domestic installations are straightforward: following an initial survey and design (usually 2–3 weeks), a standard domestic array is often installed within 1–3 days. Timescales can be longer for larger systems, roof work, listed properties or where planning and additional electrical upgrades are required. We handle the design, statutory notifications and commissioning to make the process smooth.
